No you Indians do not have to pay much because your cell phone veisrce in India is dirt cheap. The US cost for the G1 is a SUBSIDIZED cost. The United States is one of the three most expensive cell phone markets in the world along with Canada and Spain. ARPU for the US cell phone companies is $50 while in India it is less than 300 Rupees. Do your currency conversion and that is about 7 USD only. There are 450 millions cell phone users in India paying a total of only 21 billion USD for their veisrces while there are 250 million cell phone users in America spending more than 200 billion USD on their veisrces. You do the math and figure out whether your cell phones in India are expensive or not .they are not because of your no contract dirt cheap veisrce. Oh..and by the way take all that money you are saving from dirt cheap labor and dirt cheap healthcare costs and use that to buy your G1. America spends more money on healthcare than Indians spend on all consumer goods and veisrces.

Super sweet phone!

Cool screen, keyboard, display, etc. Not the best battery though, but don't let that deter you. There are no phones as awesome as this one with better batteries. The 4G while not the best is a very realizable improvement over my previous phone.
